Pneumococcal Vaccine

Pneumococcal Vaccine

These vaccines are to prevent types of infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria (known as a pneumococcal disease), such as life-threatening diseases like meningitis (inflammation around the brain), sepsis or bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream), and pneumonia (lung infection). Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria can also cause less severe but more common non-invasive respiratory tract diseases, including otitis media, sinusitis, and bronchitis.
